BANGALORE: The Christmas spirit is soaring in Bangalore. The weather is cool, but the celebrations are hot. Churches have been decorated, radio jockeys are trilling carols and Santa Claus look-alikes have invaded the malls. One need not be a Christian. The secular Bangalorean too is all ready to cut that cake and spread the joy. The Christmas spirit has arrived in style. With discount offers galore and goods aplenty, the malls have been decorated at their attractive best. The festive spirit is high especially at all commercial corners of the city, including Commercial Street, Brigade Road and Gandhinagar.
Decorations at malls
At the Forum Mall, the colours are dominated by red and gold. A 22-foot Christmas tree and a Santa fortress welcome visitors. The mall's colour theme has spread across the city too. Bedecked in a million colours, the smaller shops dot the landscape, beckoning customers. Little wonder that the malls spend much on their Christmas decorations, going by the crowds that throng them.
Time for relaxation
In the quieter residential layouts, Christmas cakes and stars are no longer limited to Christian homes. Also, with a string of holidays at hand, people are relaxing at home. But many also find the time to visit friends and rekindle relationships. Children are in high spirits. With schools closed for a week or more, they have a lot of time to play, celebrate and generally gaze at the stars.
