HYDERABAD: The condition of Shamshabad farmer Sadashiva Reddy, who attempted suicide when officials tried to launch work on a link road, continued to remain critical on Sunday. He was shifted from Osmania General Hospital to Global Hospital. Meanwhile, the Organisation for the Protection of Democratic Rights (OPDR) has blamed the highhandedness of police and revenue officials for the farmer's plight. A fact-finding team of the organisation, which interacted with farmers at Shamshabad, charged officials with not following the prescribed guidelines and acting in a manner that was objectionable. The OPDR demanded compensation of land as per market rates to farmers and suspension of erring officials. In a separate statement issued here, the CPI(M) said the indifferent attitude of the Government led to the suicide bid by four farmers. "The land is being forcibly taken away without providing appropriate compensation," it said.
