Christmas-eve cultural show by students

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Two hundred students from 10 schools in the city and 20 teachers took part in Christmas-eve celebrations at Raj Bhavan on Sunday in the presence of Governor Rameshwar Thakur.

They presented cultural programmes much to the delight of the Governor who mingled freely with them during the hour-long function.

The students, including girls, took part in a Carol procession and prayer and were later showered with gifts by Santa. A Nativity play by students of St. Mark's High School on the birth of Jesus Christ stood out for its presentation.

Mr. Thakur, who cut the traditional cake, expressed happiness at the conduct of the event. He appealed to students to emulate the qualities of love and compassion for fellow humans, as preached by Jesus.

The Governor observed that peace could be achieved only if people practised the teachings of Jesus "who stood for peace and love."
