HYDERABAD: Bahadurpura Inspector I. Jyothi Prakash allegedly threatened to commit suicide at Purana Haveli on Sunday. Reviewing the law and order situation in South Zone, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Sandeep Shandilya was said to have sought an explanation from Mr. Prakash for trying to recover Rs.40 lakhs snatched by robbers in Bahadurpura in February without registering a case. Upset over this, the Inspector threatened to end his life in front of officers if they pressed for further information about the case. When the DCP asked him to surrender his service revolver, Mr. Prakash, it is learnt, did not oblige.
Report for Mohanty
However, he expressed regret and apologised, saying he was in a `confused state.' Mr. Shandilya said a detailed report would be sent to Police Commissioner A.K. Mohanty about the episode. "How can he try to recover stolen amount without registering a case? This is against rule. When I asked for an explanation, he threatened to end his life," he said Later, Mr. Prakash claimed that he was trying to recover the stolen amount after registering a case. "What is the need for me to recover the amount without a case?" he asked.
