NALGONDA: Telugu Desam leaders belonging to Telangana met at the temple town of Yadagirigutta in the district in the backdrop of the demand that the party have a re-look at its stand on the issue of Telangana.

Though the TDP leaders, including T. Devender Goud, claimed that they had come to pay obeisance to Lakshminarasimha Swamy, to mark the first anniversary of the `Godavari Jala Sadhana Padayatra' from Pranahita to Chevella, the meeting raised many an eyebrow, coming in the wake of TRS' resounding success in the recent Karimnagar Lok Sabha byelection where the TDP ended up at the third position.

"We have come here to offer special pujas and no political significance need be attached," Mr.Goud told reporters. He, however, added that policies would be reviewed keeping in view the wishes of the people of the region.

The other leaders present were K. Srihari, S.Venugopalachary, M.Venkateswar Rao, E.Peddi Reddy, G. Sukhender Reddy, L.Ramana, S.Maruthi, Narender Reddy, M.Narasimhulu, Ramana Naik and A.Sudarshan.

A reliable source said that a delegation of Telangana leaders would shortly meet TDP president N.Chandrababu Naidu to impress upon him the need to take a relook at the party's stand over the Telangana issue. "It cannot be construed as going against the party's stand," the source hastily added. Another top leader told The Hindu that they had discussed the TRS victory in Karimnagar and Telangana Atmagourava Sabha held by that party here on December 22.

Congress lambasted

The TDP leaders lambasted the Congress for discriminating against projects in Telangana region.
