BANGALORE: Ten years as a member of Parliament (MP) can be celebrated in several ways. For H.N. Ananth Kumar, who has represented Bangalore South for a decade, Adamya Chethana, the social-service organisation promoted by his family, has chosen to honour him by organising a special New Year's Eve programme. At the event, which will be organised at National High School Grounds in Basavanagudi, two social projects, Arogya Chethana and Seva.org, will be launched as New Year gifts for the people, the organisation has announced. Under Arogya Chethana, health cards will be provided to poor people, check-ups conducted and needy schoolchildren provided with reading glasses. The scheme will also include programmes such as an accident insurance scheme, funds for medical assistance for the poor, mobile clinics and coordination of healthcare activities with other non-governmental organisations. Seva.org will provide online space for all service-minded institutions and organisations to present details of their projects. They will also be able to display details of future projects and specific goals. The day's programmes on New Year's Eve will begin at 9 a.m., and will be open to participation by schoolchildrenand eminent persons from the fields of culture and literature. Competitions in folk art forms and a blood donation camp, in which 100 voluntary donors are expected to participate, will also be conducted.
