HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that he would review the party's stand on separate Telangana with senior colleagues on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, he declined to comment on the stand that would be taken by the TDP, which is so far committed to an integrated State.

"If I tell you beforehand, where is the need for a review," he said in reply to searching questions.

Mr. Naidu, however, hastened to add that the TDP was committed to its political ideology and principles.

The founder president, N.T. Rama Rao, had launched the party for the well-being of Telugu-speaking people.

This would continue to be the party's plank.

He laughed away a question whether two States with Telugu-speaking population could not exist.

Advice to media

Mr. Naidu said a review on the party's stand over separate Telangana was due in any case against the backdrop of the Karimnagar Lok Sabha byelection in which the TDP was relegated to the third place behind the TRS and the Congress.

He explained that the review could not be taken up so far as the winter session of the Assembly got under way.

Asked about the significance of the meeting of senior TDP leaders from Telangana at Yadagirigutta on Sunday, he said they had sought his permission to visit the shrine to mark the anniversary of their padayatra demanding a canal linking Pranahita and Chevella in the Telangana region.

He advised the media not to read between the lines.

He took a dig at the media for blowing the TDP leaders' meeting out of proportion. "You made it big though their idea was small," he remarked.
