Harvard students to meet Lalu
New Delhi:
After impressing the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) with the dramatic turnaround of the Railways, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad would be sharing the success story with a group of students from the elite B-schools in Harvard and Wharton in the U.S. here on Wednesday.
Mr. Prasad recently gave management tips to students at the IIM-Ahmedabad and Bangalore. He is credited with the financial turnaround of the loss-making Indian Railways. It earned a revenue surplus of Rs. 13,000 crore by March 31, 2006.
Chief of the U.S. corporate giant General Electric came to India to study the phenomenal success of the Railways. Management experts from Germany, Japan and France followed suit. They all wanted to know the Railways' success within a span of 30 months. PTI
