A law and order problem

The stinking heaps of garbage in Kochi have become a sort of law and order issue in the city. After the unruly incidents at the last Corporation council meeting, the Youth Congress activists staged an agitation at the Corporation office on Tuesday. The activists, who entered the council premises, threw rotten eggs at the office to record their protest against the delay in removing the garbage heaps.

The piled up garbage and the vociferous criticism led to violent incidents in the council. It also culminated in the suspension of two Congress councillors.

With the Opposition adopting an aggressive stand and the ruling front all set to take on the Opposition, the council meetings would be stormy ones in the coming days.
