DINDIGUL: Natarajan, postmaster, and Muthusamy, postman, both attached to T. Viralipatti branch post office near Thadikombu were suspended on the charges of deficiency in service, here on Tuesday. Postal Inspector Thulasi Das issued the suspension orders. Residents of Maravapatti village had handed over a bunch of letters that were thrown away by a postman, who was in an inebriated state, on a street in the village. The villagers lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. The petition stated that the postman, who has been delivering letters to Maravapatti and Viralipatti regularly, used to throw all the letters in a public place and order people to collect them. On last Saturday too, he had thrown all letters including the ones sent by the Central government departments and Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, money orders and telephone and mobile phone bills behind a church premises. The local people had collected the letters and handed them to the Taluk police station for action.
