LUCKNOW: The former Prime Minister and Jan Morcha convener, V.P. Singh, announced on Monday that the structures, including the boundary wall, on the land acquired in Dadri (for the Reliance power plant) would be demolished by the Morcha activists on January 9, 2007, notwithstanding the Allahabad High Court's order for maintaining status quo on the land. Mr. Singh said the next phase of the Dadri march would start from Agra on January 7 under the Morcha Alliance president, Raj Babbar, who would lead a rath yatra to the site of the power plant. He said the yatra would culminate at Dadri on January 9 where the structures built would be demolished by his partymen. Referring to the High Court's order, the former Prime Minister said the Jan Morcha was in favour of justice. The law which did not give justice should be opposed. Addressing a press conference, the Jan Morcha convener slammed the Uttar Pradesh Government for acquiring farmland for the power plant. Mr. Singh said the boundary wall should have been constructed after the pipeline was laid, and alleged that the deal involved around 2,500 acres which would be used for real estate development. The former Prime Minister threatened to launch another agitation from Gorakhpur to Meerut, this time in protest against sugar mill owners' refusal to give cane price to the growers in accordance with the new State advised price of Rs. 130 a quintal. He said the mill owners had not mentioned the price in the quotations given to the farmers. Mr. Singh alleged that the State Government preferred to protect the interest of the mill owners.
