Mannam Jayanti to be observed on January 2

A.K. Antony will be the chief guest

KOTTAYAM: Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony will be the chief guest at this year's Mannam Jayanti observance at Perunna. The Akhila Kerala Nair Prathinidhi Sammelan will be held on January 1 and the 130th Mannam Jayanti observed on January 2.

The sammelan will be inaugurated by P.K. Narayana Panicker, general secretary, Nair Service Society (NSS). The session will be presided over by its president P.V. Neelakanta Pillai.

Mr. Panicker will welcome the guests at the jayanti observance function.

K. Suresh Kurup, MP; V.N. Rajsekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, Indira Gandhi Open University; M.K. Ramachandran, Vice-Chancellor, Kerala University, among others, will speak.

The floral tribute will be offered at the samadhi. Cultural programmes, including sangeeta sadas by Mathamgi Sathyamurthy, ganamela by M. Jayachandran and Kathakali (major set) `Nalacharitham' day four and `Duryodhana Vadhom,' will also be held.
