Gurpreet misses century

NEW DELHI: Gurpreet Singh hit an unbeaten 99 (15x4) and shared a 175-run first-wicket stand with Devender Lochab (44 not out) to steer Haryana Cricket Academy to a 10-wicket win over R.P. Academy in a league match of the all-India Shakuntala Devi memorial cricket tournament here.

The scores: R.P. Academy 174 for eight in 40 overs (Nitin Bhandari 72 n.o., Amit Kumar 42) lost to Haryana Cricket Academy 175 for no loss in 21.1 overs (Gurpreet Singh Namdhari 99 n.o., Devender Lochab 44 n.o.).

SAIL in semifinals

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Kolkata, cruised into the semifinals with a 4-1 win against Amity United in the last super-league match of the 16th all-India Lal Bahadur Shastri memorial football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

Jotish Basumatarai and Sonathan Zuala put SAIL 2-0 before Deepak helped Amity reduce the margin. SAIL again scored through Lal Biket Lunga and Dipankar.
