Bleak weather increases Railways' woes

NEW DELHI: The bleak weather increased Railways' woes against Kerala in the Ranji Trophy Plate League match at the Karnail Singh Stadium here on Tuesday.

On a day when bad light and rain left the Railways camp worried, the host ended at 64 for three in reply to Kerala's first innings total of 264. Resuming at 223 for six, Kerala encountered trouble from Jai Prakash Yadav, who added two more wickets in the morning to finish with a five-wicket haul.

Railways had recovered from two early dismissals, but Amit Pagnis (32, 92b, 4x4) fell to indiscretion. Play was halted 40 minutes after lunch even as Yadav walked out to join Shreyas Khanolkar.

This pair holds the key in Railways' desperate attempt to collect two points from this match in order to make it to the semifinals provided, of course, the weather improves on Wednesday.
