Loans for women to help them set up cottage industries

Women's hostels constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakhs inaugurated



FACILITY FOR WOMEN: A.P. Women's Finance Cooperative Corporation Chairperson P. Krishnamma and Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy inaugurating a women's hostel at Kadapa on Tuesday.

KADAPA: Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Women's Cooperative Finance Corporation P. Krishnamma on Tuesday assured women of loans to the tune of Rs. 5 lakhs each for setting up cottage industries. The corporation had disbursed Rs. 13-crore loans this year, she said.

Ms. Krishnamma and Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy inaugurated women's hostels constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakhs in Durgabai Deshmukh Mahila Sishu Vikas Kendram here.

Addressing women health volunteers, she said poor women were being imparted training on computers and printing press management. Trained women were being granted loans from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000 for self-employment. The corporation is also granting education loans, she said.

Health awareness

She exhorted women health volunteers to strive to promote health awareness among rural women.

Mr. Reddy called upon women health volunteers to strive to curb women and infant mortality in rural areas. The Government is extending Rs. 3-crore loan per mandal on `pavala vaddi', he said.

Fund granted

Sarva Siksha Abhiyan was granted Rs. 7 crores to eradicate child labourers, educating them and improving amenities in child labour schools.

Assistant Project Coordinator of SSY P.V. Lakshmaiah urged women health volunteers to strive to enrol dropouts in residential bridge schools.

Corporation Director A. Prabhavathi, District Manager of Mahila Sishu Vikas Kendram Lakshmi Devi, coordinator of health workers Veeramma, Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj Hameed Basha, Subrahmanyam, AE, Sambepalle ZPTC member Srilakshmi and health workers participated.
