BANGALORE: The State-level Kalapratibhotsava to spot talent in children and youth will be held in Bangalore on December 29 and 30. Winners at district levels in various cultural events will compete in the State-level competition under Bala Pratibhe, Kishora Pratibhe and Yuva Pratibhe categories. Medical journal

BANGALORE: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) will come out with a medical journal by January 2007. Launching the official website of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry here on Tuesday, University Registrar Vasanth Kumar said the journal would be sponsored by the dental faculty of the university. The journal would contain contributions from teachers in the medical field and would give a fillip to research, he said. The website can be accessed at www.isppd.co.in. — Staff Reporter

Bakery course

BANGALORE: The Multi-disciplinary Training Centre, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, offers a two-month training in bakery products for educated unemployed youth and women from January 2, 2007 at its centre, near FCI Godown, Vijinapura, Doorvaninagar. Non-governmental organisations can sponsor students while the centre offers a stipend of Rs. 700 a month to candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories. `Padukas' arrive

Belgaum: The sacred "padukas" (silver sandals symbolising the feet of the Divine) of Sri Amma Bhagavan of Oneness University arrived here with devotees according a ceremonial reception to it on Tuesday. The devotees of Amma Bhagavan gathered at Maratha Mandal auditorium where they offered puja to the padukas. — Staff Correspondent

Funds sanctioned

BIJAPUR: The Government has sanctioned Rs. 22.38 crore for taking five drinking water schemes that are to be executed in Huvinahipparagi Assembly segment comprising villages of Basavanabagewadi and Muddebihal taluks. In statement here on Tuesday, Huvinahipparagi MLA Shivaputrappa Desai said the schemes would benefit 66 villages under his segment. The works would start once tender process was over, he added. — Staff Correspondent

Udupi: The President of the State unit of Savita Samaj, P.K. Vasudev Murthy, said on Tuesday that the community should give more importance to education.
