Police gear up for TRS protest

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Home Minister K. Jana Reddy has said that the State Government was studying how to deal with the proposed blockade of Rajiv Rahadari all along its 250 km. route by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Friday as part of its agitation demanding nine-hour power supply to farmers.

In a guarded response to questions about how the Government would tackle the daylong agitation by TRS, Mr. Reddy told a news conference here on Tuesday that the police would act according to the situation.

He was, however, clear that the agitators could not disrupt normal life. He did not specify whether traffic diversions would be made on the road.

Mr. Reddy said there were no intelligence reports so far about the likelihood of trouble either on Rajiv Rahadari or during protests at sub-stations by the TDP on Thursday. Nonetheless, he appealed to the parties and the farmers not to whip up tensions.
