HYDERABAD: The newly constituted House Committee of the Assembly to monitor implementation of GO 610 on repatriation of non-locals was clearly told on Tuesday that there was no timeframe for its duties and it would continue till the goal was achieved.

Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy, who addressed the first meeting of the committee, said overseeing implementation of the order fully was the only job assigned to the panel. It did not have any other terms of reference.

He hoped that the GO 610 was fully implemented in less than the six-month period proposed by the State Government.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of N. Uttamkumar Reddy of the Congress.

The members present included Basavaraju Saraiah, S. Sailajanath, V. Sunita Laxma Reddy, Bajireddy Goverdhan and Dara Sambaiah (Cong), T. Devender Goud, Y. Ramakrishnudu and D.C. Govind Reddy (TDP), J. Ranga Reddy (CPI-M), Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI), Akbaruddin Owaisi (MIM) and T. Harish Rao (TRS).

    Report lauded

Mr. Devender Goud told the meeting that it was possible to implement the GO within six months if milestones were fixed for every Government department to meet the recommendations of the Girglani Commission that went into violations of the order. He praised the report of the commission for its investigative content.

Unfortunately, the process of repatriation could not be carried out even on the basis of the report due to the indifference of the official machinery.

He warned that no progress would be made if they started digging into the recommendations of the commission. All doubts relating to the recommendations should be left to the Government to probe.

Mr. Sambaiah sought collection of service details of each employee based on a proforma before going ahead with the work. The information could be gathered with the help of the heads of departments and Collectors within a fortnight, he said.
