BHOPAL: The AICC general Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, who was caught in a roadside scuffle at Ujjain on Monday afternoon, now faces the allegation that he had hit and injured a person who was trying to obstruct his convoy when he was proceeding to attend a function. The police have not registered any case against him saying that it is a non-cognizable offence and the complainant was free to go to court. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. near the Chamunda square at Ujjain when Mr. Singh was going to attend a function organised by the Kshatriya Mahasabha. It has been reported by sections of the media that the Congress leader had hit Anil Singh Chandel, leader of a rival Kshatriya Mahasabha faction, when along with his supporters he was trying to stop him from attending the function. The Police later registered a case against Mr. Chandel and his supporters for blocking the former Chief Minister's convoy. When contacted, the Ujjain Superintendent of Police, Jaideep Prasad, told The Hindu that the police have not registered any case against Mr. Singh. He said that Mr. Chandel, who wanted to lodge a complaint, was referred for medical examination and the medical test says that he has received minor injury.
