Ishant may fly out to South Africa

Special Correspondent

Rajkot: The chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Senior National Selection Committee, Dilip Vengsarkar, and the Indian team management in South Africa, are likely to ask the BCCI to send Delhi fast bowler Ishant Sharma to South Africa should a contingency arise before the third Test at Cape Town from January 2 to 6, 2007.

BCCI sources said that the team management would take a decision after the conclusion of the first day's play at Durban.

Sharma is now here playing in the Ranji Trophy Super League match against Saurashtra. Seamer Munaf Patel has been unfit for well over a month. On Monday, the team management had also decided to send Irfan Pathan back home to play in the Ranji Trophy for Baroda.

Tendulkar available

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar has told the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he, opener Wasim Jaffer and fast bowler Zaheer Khan will be available for Mumbai's last Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra to be played at Nashik from January 10 to 13, 2007.

Mumbai failed to get a point against Bengal, Punjab and Hyderabad and is currently playing its first home match against Gujarat.

Coming to know of Mumbai's position in the Group `B' Super League, Tendulkar has told the MCA officials that Mumbai should go into the last match at full strength. Seamer Ajit Agarkar, who picked up a hamstring during the one-day series in South Africa, is likely to be available for Mumbai's next match against Rajasthan.
