HASSAN: The Belur Town Police have arrested Mohammad Alijinna of Thotadakere village in Shimoga and have recovered from him 30 gas cylinders and a mini lorry used to transport these stolen gas cylinders. According to Superintendent of Police Panduranga Rane, on September 14, 2006, an eight-member gang attacked the godown of Chennakeshava Gas agency in Bantenahalli in Belur, assaulted the watchman, tied him up and took away 227 gas cylinders. Following this, a special investigation team was formed which has successfully arrested one member of this gang. Their investigation also revealed that the eight members distributed cylinders among themselves and sold them in Banavara and Mysore.
