COIMBATORE: Based on an analysis, the agricultural commodities that could have more scope for export from Tamil Nadu to the neighbouring countries of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, have been recommended by two scientists of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here. N. Raveendran, Professor of Agricultural and Rural Management, and M. Jawaharlal, Professor of Horticulture, have recommended that the Ponni and idli rice varieties, red, black and green gram varieties, vegetables like carrot, peas, onion, broccoli and radish, fruits like pomegranate, grapes, mango, guava, sapota and red banana, and masala powders would be suitable for export to Malaysia.

Ponni and idli rice varieties, red, green and black gram varieties, vegetables like bitter gourd, drumstick, small onion, brinjals, cluster beans and yam, fruits like mango and sapota would be suitable for export to Thailand. In addition, tamarind, betel leaf, flowers, ghee, all edible oils, honey, dried fruits and vegetables, papads and peanuts would be ideal for export to Singapore from the State.
