HYDERABAD: The MCH will be holding a series of Assembly constituency-wise meetings with local MLAs and other public representatives to review the progress of works in their respective areas, according to Commissioner Sanjay Jaju. The meetings have been planned with all city MLAs in the next fortnight as the Assembly session got over. While a meeting with Majlis party legislators was held on Tuesday, similar meetings are scheduled with MLAs of other constituencies too. Earlier, Majlis leaders led by Asaduddin Owaisi, Hyderabad MP, and five MLAs including their legislature party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi (Chandrayanagutta) met Mr. Jaju and his senior colleagues to discuss several ongoing projects in old city. The Commissioner informed the MIM team comprising MLAs -- Mohd. Moazzam Khan (Asifnagar), Mohd. Muqtada Khan (Karwan), Mumtaz Ahmed Khan (Yakutpura), Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri (Charminar) -- that MCH had grounded works of Rs. 43 crores out of Rs. 100 crores in old city this year .
Fresh order
He explained, in detail, the works taken up like road widening, storm water drains repairs, Musi conservation project, Charminar pedestrianisation project, etc. However, he also accepted that re-carpeting of roads was not done and expected to start relaying roads once the Municipal Administration Department issues a fresh order on standard scheduled rates. The Commissioner told the team that MCH was preparing estimates to spend up to Rs. 450 crore as part of the Rs. 2,000 crore-package on infrastructure improvement announced by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Issues of urban transport like the proposed Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), MRTS and road widening also figured in the meeting. Rationalisation and placement of dumper bins exercise was completed in circle one and was half way through in circle four, he said. The MIM MLAs sought faster progress of works. They reportedly wanted the protocol to be followed in clearing any work pertaining to the area as they felt that the projects sought by local corporators were being given the nod without their knowledge.
