Jagmohan Dalmiya. File Photo: Sushanta Patronobish
Kolkata: Jagmohan Dalmiya resigned from the post of the President of Cricket Association of Bengal on Wednesday, severing his last official tie with the sport. The former ICC and BCCI President conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the members of the CAB Working Committee on Wednesday afternoon. Dalmiya, who held the post since 1993, said in his letter that the BCCI had "illegally" removed him in a vindictive move. Now that his post as the CAB President was putting the sport in Bengal in danger of being "hounded" by the present BCCI regime, he said he had decided to resign from the office of the President of CAB, the letter said. "I will continue to fight against the injustice on my own accord. I am sure that my stand would be fully vindicated through due process of law, in which I have full confidence." On who would become the successor, Dalmiya said his personal choice would be the former BCCI president Biswanath Dutt. Principal Correspondent
