BIDAR: Aerial acrobatics by the Surya Kiran team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was the highlight of the Bidar Utsav organised at Bidar Fort on Wednesday. The show began at 4.15 p.m. and lasted for about 30 minutes. The team was led by IAF pilots Sandeep Bansal, Raj Thakkar, Abhijit Tokekar and Rahul Leelani.
Modified planes
Four Mak-II planes modified as Surya Kirans flew over the fort and nearby areas. The pilots performed long loops, short loops, cross formations and aerial splits. They also displayed horizontal and vertical ascending and descending skills. The planes took off from the Bidar Air Force Base and circled the fort.
Large crowd
The show was witnessed by over 20,000 people, who seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. The children were especially enthralled. Some people even climbed the walls of the Divan-E-Am inside the fort to get a closer glimpse of the colourful trails of smoke left by the planes. Air Officer Commanding J.S. Dhillon, Tourism Minister B. Sriramulu, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur, member of Parliament Narsingrao Suryavanshi, Prakash Khandre and Mirajudding Patel, MLAs, Quazi Arshad Ali and Rathna Kushnoor, MLCs, senior IAF officials, zilla panchayat president Anil Bhusare, City Municipal Council (CMC) chairman Chandrashekar Patil, and zilla panchayat members Rajshekar Murthy, Ganapath Kadam, Meenakshi Sangram were present.
