PROMOTING VEGETARIANISM: Actor Madhavan (left) and Tarachand Dugar of Indian Vegetarian Congress at a press conference in Chennai to announce details of an upcoming food expo.
CHENNAI: Actor Madhavan, a vegetarian, turned as an activist for the concept of vegetarianism on Wednesday. To commemorate its golden jubilee year, the Indian Vegetarian Congress is conducting a mega vegetarian food expo 2007 on January 12 and 13 at Raja Muthia Hall. Madhvan joined in at a press conference organised on behalf of the Congress.
Advantages
"I have always been a vegetarian and I have myself witnessed the advantages of practising vegetarianism. Vegetarians have the best diet and they are exposed less to health problems that include coronary and life threatening diseases such as cancer (than non-vegetarians). I would request everyone to move towards the vegetarian way of life which could change lives," he noted. Tarachand Dugar, president of the congress, said through the mega expo they sought to help the vegetarian food industry promote their products and develop business. "At the expo, we are going to showcase more than 1,000 recipes for the public to taste and enjoy vegetarian dishes and prove that vegetarian is the best and also tastes good."
