ADMISSIONS TO the third batch of the Postgraduate Diploma in Infrastructure Management (PGDIM) offered by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) are now open. The programme is scheduled to begin at the School of Management for Infrastructure and Development Strategies (MINDS) here in the last week of July 2007. The one-year (trimester) full-time PGDIM programme is conducted by MINDS, with VTU-MINDS being a unique academic venture with the broad objective of creating a pool of competent techno-managerial personnel for India's infrastructure sector. The course will focus on Planning Tools, Project Management, Contract Management, Infrastructure Finance, Marketing and Financial Management, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Applications, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Strategic Environmental Assessment. Prospectus and application forms could be obtained in person or by post from the Special Officer, VTU Regional Office, R.V. Teachers' College Building, Jayanagar 2nd Block, Bangalore: 560011. More details can be accessed on the MINDS website: (www.minds-india.org) . Application forms will be issued from March 26, 2007. The last date to submit duly filled forms is July 9. Group discussion and interviews of shortlisted candidates will be held on July 16 and 17. Rank list will be declared on July 20. The last date to accept the offer is July 25. The deadline to report for registration is July 30. VTU-MINDS officials said the students of the first batch (2005-06) were well received by the industry. The batch had 100 per cent placement with prestigious infrastructure organisations.
