Irfan Baig
BANGALORE: The city police are tight-lipped over the progress of investigation into the kidnapping of 16-year-old Irfan Baig, who was abducted from Koramangala 80-feet Road on Monday morning. Irfan Baig was managing one of the three shops owned by his father Sher Ali, who is in construction business. He rents out centering material used in roof construction. According to neighbouring shop owners, Sher Ali's shop on an open land on Koramangala 80-feet Road, was managed by Baig. "He was doing brisk business and was earning a profit of Rs. 500 a day. He used to go on a bicycle from Central Silk Board at 9 a.m. and close the shop by 5.30 p.m. His father visited the shop once a week," one of the shop owners said. Since his kidnap, the business has come to a standstill. "Many people have returned empty handed finding nobody at the outlet," said Harish, a boy who runs a bicycle shop next to Irfan's outlet. None from Irfan's family have visited the shop since the day of kidnap. The shop looks bare. There is a table and a jacket amidst a sizeable stock of wooden poles and ladders. A senior police officer told The Hindu that they were yet to achieve a breakthrough in the case. A team of police officers has been drafted for investigation. Sources said Sher Ali had gone to Tumkur following up on a clue to his son's whereabouts. But the police officer refused to confirm it saying it was a mere speculation.
