This Day That Age
The bi-weekly air-conditioned train service between Bombay and New Delhi started from New Delhi on December 24. The first train from Bombay left Bombay Central on December 26. The service from Bombay will be on Wednesdays and Sundays and from New Delhi on Mondays and Fridays. The main feature of the train is that in addition to 20 upper-class air-conditioned berths, it will have about 240 third class air-conditioned seats. The fares for third class air-conditioned accommodation will be third class mail fares plus a surcharge of four pies per mile per passenger. These trains are comfortable even in cold weather through air-conditioned heating instead of cooling. The new train service is provided with a dining car. The catering on these cars is done by the Railways.
