Not enough judges: Balakrishnan
PUNE:
The Chief Justice of India-designate, K.G. Balakrishnan, on Thursday said there was delay in justice delivery due to inadequate number of judges.
"There is a lot of debate about delayed justice and there is harsh criticism of the judiciary. That is because of the inadequate number of judges," Justice Balakrishnan said after inaugurating a conference of lawyers and law students organised by the Pune Bar Association.
"The greatest contribution of law is developing society by imparting the finest legal service," he said.
Gujarat had set a good example in solving the problem of pending cases by starting evening courts. PTI
