Not enough judges: Balakrishnan

PUNE: The Chief Justice of India-designate, K.G. Balakrishnan, on Thursday said there was delay in justice delivery due to inadequate number of judges.

"There is a lot of debate about delayed justice and there is harsh criticism of the judiciary. That is because of the inadequate number of judges," Justice Balakrishnan said after inaugurating a conference of lawyers and law students organised by the Pune Bar Association.

"The greatest contribution of law is developing society by imparting the finest legal service," he said.
