Nandakumar's century in vain

Udhagamandalam: Despite a 171 by Nandakumar, Wonder XI CC went down by 99 runs to Rising Stars CC in the TNCA-NDCA `C' division league for the Kairbetta Estates Syndicate Rolling Trophy at the HPF grounds here on Wednesday.

The scores (C division): Rising Stars 294 for six (Ubaid 70 not out, Mustafa 57, T.H. Suresh 51, Yesuraj 40) bt Wonder XI CC 195 (Nandakumar 171).

B division: Don Bradman CC 117 (C. Karthik five for 20) lost to Green City CC 119 for seven in 23.1 overs.

Sterling Biotech CC 193 for eight in 40 overs (Kavi Chakravarthy 45 not out) bt Pandalur Taluk SC 138.

Sundararajan-Natarajan in final

Natarajan and Sundararajan duo combined well to oust Sridhar and Subramanian combo 6-2, 6-1 in the above 50 years Group `A' semifinal of the Coimbatore Masters open tennis tournament at the Sreevatsan Tennis Complex courts in Coimbatore on Thursday.

The results: Group A (above 50yrs): Natarajan & Sundararajan bt Sridhar & Subramanian 6-2, 6-1. 20-50yrs (first round): Shankar & Mahesh bt Rajaram & Ugesh 6-1, 6-1; Sathish & Murugappan bt Prabhu & Kumar 6-1, 6-0. Group C: Bharat & Gnanaprakasam bt Bharat & Durai 6-3, 6-3. Group D: C.G.V. Anand & Senthil bt Murali & Ramesh 6-1, 6-0.

Block level sports

The Coimbatore unit of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu will conduct the Coimbatore district block-level meet at various venues on January 4 and 5, 2007.
