Madhavi breaks three meet records

BANGALORE: The spotlight on the second day of the State short course swimming championship at BAC pool here was on the teenage international Madhavi Giri of the K.C. Reddy swim centre. Madhavi accounted for three of the four records set on the day with new meet marks in the 400m individual medley (5:24.76), 200m butterfly (2:26.94) and 200m individual medley (2:34.16) in the girls' Group II section.

Pooja Alva of BAC claimed the credit for the fourth record, winning the 200m butterfly in 2:33.97 in the girls' Group I section. N.A. Sandeep of BAC set the lone record in the boys' section, winning the Group I 100 m backstroke event in 1:01.50.

MDAD National chess

The Mysore District Chess Association of the Deaf (MDAD) will conduct the 3rd National chess championship for the hearing impaired from December 29 to January 1 at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry in Mysore. Around 150 players from 16 States are expected to participate.
