KPCC seeks clarification on ADB loan

Special Correspondent

Says Achuthanandan should make his stand clear

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has demanded Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to clarify his stand on the Government signing an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Mr. Chennithala told mediapersons here on Thursday evening that Mr. Achuthanandan should come clear on his statement that the agreement with the ADB was signed without his knowledge. The CPI(M) and the LDF, which had opposed ADB assistance, should apologise to the public for altering their stance.

CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan had said that the secretariat had twice discussed the issue of ADB loan in the presence of Mr.Achuthanandan and the five corporations had formed technical support units to avail themselves of the loan, he said.

The differences between the CPI(M) leadership and the Government had created an administrative stalemate in the State. There was no collective responsibility.

Mr. Achuthanandan had been correcting the Ministers and now the Ministers were correcting him.

The Chief Minister had lost faith in his Cabinet colleagues and they did not trust him either.

Mr. Achuthanandan should think whether he should have such Ministers in his Cabinet. Kerala had lost Rs.10,000 crores sanctioned under the Jawaharlal Nehru Nation Urban Renewable Mission and the implementation of the food-for-work programme was far from satisfactory.

Mr. Achuthanandan should clarify whether it was with his consent that the Government decided to engage C.S. Vaidyanathan to appear in the SNC Lavalin case in the High Court.

He should also clarify whether he stuck to his stance that the company should be blacklisted, he said.
