NEW DELHI: Those still waiting to buy their set-top boxes from their local cable operators in South Delhi have more choices now. Wire and Wireless India Limited (WWIL) -- formerly known as Siti Cable Network -- is all set to provide Conditional Access System (CAS) services under the brand name "GalaxZee''. "CAS has been a catalyst for a new revolution. The digitisation of television will change the way we look at it. If you are looking at the features, we will win the war and battle. Customers will be able to use email and chat through our set-top boxes,'' said WWIL CEO J.S Kohli at a press conference here on Wednesday. Offering a whole new world of options, GalaxZee is giving customers the choice to email, order movies through pay for view and later even be able to record. The beginning of new-age TV, it will be possible soon for customers to be able to connect to the Internet and even use Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) through their box. While the advanced features may take a few months to activate, GalaxZee is tempting customers with an attractive package. "We will introduce our basic box at the moment. But by March, we will introduce our advanced box. It will be possible for subscribers to plug in their phone using VOIP and talk to their friends in America almost free,'' he added. For those looking for just using their television sets for entertainment purposes only, GalaxZee is offering a "dhamaka'' package. "For 30 days we are offering consumers a minimum of 25 pay channels at an annual cost of Rs.600. Service taxes will be extra of course. This basically means that consumers will be able to watch their channels at Rs.50 per month,'' he said. The customers will also get free-to-air channels for an additional Rs.77. The company is also offering another package of Rs.1,800 in which the customer will be able to buy the set-top box at Rs.1,200 outright. The Rs.600 will give them this bouquet of a minimum 25 pay channels. The GalaxZee offer is to counter their competitor Hathway's offer of 32 pay channels for Rs.55.
