YSR to launch tank restoration programme

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will launch the minor irrigation tank restoration programme from January 8 from Vizianagaram district.

All other district in charge Ministers would simultaneously launch the programmes the same day. The Rural Development Department has identified 11,445 tanks in 13 districts for restoration works.

At a review meeting with officials the Chief Minister was informed that restoration of defunct and neglected minor irrigation tanks at least one in gram panchayat would be taken up.
