New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan on Thursday night appealed to Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee to end her hunger strike over the Singur issue and expressed concern over her deteriorating health.

In a letter to Ms. Banerjee, Dr. Singh said West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee assured him that he was ready to discuss all issues she might like to raise.

According to the Prime Minister's media adviser, Sanjaya Baru, Dr. Singh said in the letter: "I believe that the Chief Minister has written to you today along these lines expressing his readiness for a dialogue on all outstanding issues ... I, therefore, appeal to you end your fast ... I have been greatly concerned about the state of your health." — PTI
