Gas agencies draw flak

HYDERABAD: Activists of the Communist Party of India ((Marxist) staged a dharna in front of gas agencies protesting against linking the issue of ration cards to the supply of gas cylinders. A large number of women expressed their displeasure by cooking in the open at the dharna venue.

M. Srinivasa Rao, secretary of the Musheerabad zone committee of the party, said it was unfair on the part of the Government not to supply gas cylinders to white card holders. "Those who use gas cylinders are not rich as the Government thinks and the orders not to supply cylinders to white card holders should be withdrawn immediately," he said. "It was a part of Government's conspiracy to cancel white cards."
