HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Friday released the Revenue diary 2007 brought out by the Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association. Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy released the New Year diary published by the Andhra Pradesh State Agro-Industries Development Corporation. - Special Correspondent

New Rs. 2 coin

HYDERABAD: The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic stainless steel Rs. 2 coins with the theme `Unity in Diversity', according to a press release from RBI here on Friday. The coins will be circular in shape with 27 millimetres in diameter with a metal composition of 17 per cent chromium and 83 per cent iron. The existing Rs. 2 coins in circulation will continue to be a legal tender. - Staff Reporter

Dattatreya's plea

HYDERABAD: State BJP president B. Dattatreya has written to Union Minister of State for Finance S.S. Palanimanickam to implement the Central Chit Fund Act 1982 in Andhra Pradesh instead of allowing the Government to amend the Andhra Pradesh Chit Fund Act, 1971. - Special Correspondent

Minimum pay scale

HYDERABAD: The Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees (staff side) has proposed to the Sixth Central Pay Commission a minimum pay scale of Rs. 10,000 and a maximum of Rs. 1.2 lakh a month.

Umraomal Purohit, JCM secretary, submitted a memorandum in this regard to commission chairman Justice Srikrishna on December 28 in New Delhi. - Special Correpondent

Case postponed

ANANTAPUR: The Additional Sessions Court adjourned the Paritala Ravindra murder case to January 12 here on Friday. Only the conspiracy accused G. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri was produced before Additional Sessions Judge V. Chandrasekharan, officiating in the absence of District and Sessions Judge. The remaining dozen accused lodged in Cherlapally and Chanchalguda prisons in Hyderabad were not produced. - Staff Reporter

Preference sought

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Village Servants' Association while welcoming the Government's decision to appoint village revenue officers sought preference to eligible village servants.

D. Rajalingam, president and others, in a statement here on Friday said about 10,000 village servants in the Revenue department were eligible for promotion. They sought 20 per cent of the posts in each district be allocated for village servants. - Special Correspondent

Best teacher awards

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Urdu Academy has invited applications from Urdu teachers working in Government, Zilla Parishad, Municipal, Panchayat Raj and Aided schools for best teachers award for the year 2006. Teachers who have put in five years of service are eligible to apply and the last date for filing applications is January 15. Forms can be obtained free of cost from the academy office on all working days. - Staff Reporter

Posts notified

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State-level Police Recruitment Board on Friday notified 144 posts of assistant public prosecutors in the State Prosecution Service. The board said 136 posts would fall under general recruitment and eight posts were reserved. Application forms could be obtained from the places mentioned in the notification by paying Rs. 20 in cash from January 16 to 25. They could be submitted from January 20 to 25. The notification has been placed on www.apstatepolice.org. - Special Correspondent
