Durban: The South African media manager Gordon Templeton said the home team vice-captain Jacques Kallis has been making steady progress from his lower thoracic injury of the spine. The all-rounder's fitness would be reassessed in Cape Town, ahead of the third Test. Umpire Mark Benson, admitted to hospital on Thursday following palpitation of his heart, will stay in the intensive care unit for one more day. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is grappling with bruised right index and middle fingers. Dhoni, seen keeping wickets in pain, received treatment on the field. India media manager Rajan Nair said a fracture had been ruled out. He also said paceman Munaf Patel was now fit. Rahul Dravid had said on the opening day of the second Test that Munaf was three days away from match fitness. Munaf could take V.R.V. Singh's place in the third Test.
