Held on murder charge

TIRUCHI : A 37-year-old man who allegedly murdered a woman construction labourer and buried her body near a lake bund at Valavanthankottai on the outskirts of the city a few days ago was secured by the police on Friday.

According to the police, Natarajan, who was a mason, had an illegal affair with Parvathi (21). The woman who became pregnant asked Natarajan to marry him and reportedly threatened to expose him, if he failed to do so.

Natarajan murdered the woman by strangulating her with her half-sari and later buried the body near the lake bund.

The police said Natarajan confessed to the Village Administrative Officer of Valavanthankottai on Friday of having committed the crime.
