DOING THE HONOURS: Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy inaugurating the delegates' session at the 29th State meet of the Kerala State Ayurveda Medical Officers' Association in Thiruvalla on Saturday.
PATHANAMTHITTA: Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy has said the Government was exploring the possibility of opening Ayurveda dispensaries in all panchayats. The Minister was inaugurating the delegates' session of the 29th annual State meet of the Kerala State Ayurveda Medical Officers' Association at Santhinilayam auditorium in Thiruvalla on Saturday. Ms. Sreemathy said she had discussed the issue with the Finance Minister and talks were under way for making the necessary budgetary allocation for the same. The Minister said efforts were on to provide vehicles to all the 14 District Ayurveda Medical Offices in the State. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom distributed the awards instituted by the association on the occasion. Mr. Viswom said the Forest Department would not grow any more Acacia trees in the State as part of the social forestry programme. He said the fully-grown Acacia trees would be slaughtered in a phased manner. Association president K.M. Madhavan presided. Association general secretary Dr. Thodiyoor Sasikumar spoke. A seminar on `Ayurveda and the State's development' was held. District Panchayat president S. Santhakumari inaugurated the seminar. Dr. V.G. Udayakumar delivered the keynote address. Dr P.K.Mohanlal was the moderator. Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas will inaugurate the valedictory meet on Sunday. Dr R. Ramabhadran and Ayurveda Director Koshy Thomas will address the function.
