Three Indians in final

CHENNAI: Three Indians — Ravi Dixit (under-15), Mahesh Mangaonkar and Saumya Karki (both under-13) — have entered the final of the Scottish junior squash open at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, according to information reaching here.

Ravi, playing in his first European event, had a dramatic win after being two games down against Milles Zarazua of Mexico. He won 7-9, 5-9, 9-6, 9-4, 9-6. Earlier, he had defeated Egyptian Allaa Radwan 10-9, 9-1, 9-1.

For top seed Mahesh it was a comparatively easy picking against Joshua Sekhar of Canada as he won 9-3, 9-2 in just 30 minutes. Mahesh had reached the final of the under-11 category two years ago.

Saumya defeated countrymate Aparajitha Balamurukan to reach the title clash. Aparajitha had looked the better of the two and had even taken a two-game lead before Saumya caught up and closed the match out. Saumya won 7-9, 1-9, 9-3, 9-3, 10-8. — Special Correspondent
