Rs. 120-crore hospital at Keralite's initiative in Dubai

    KOZHIKODE: Medcare Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities in the heart of New Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road, is being readied to start functioning by mid- February, Azad Moopen, chairman of the hospital, has said.

    Built at a cost of Rs.120 crore on a two-acre plot near the SAFA Park, this 90,000 sq. feet, multi-specialty hospital will be the first in this area providing advanced medical, surgical and maternity care with emergency services. Medcare Hospital will have centres of excellence in nephrology and urology, gastroenterology, GI Surgery and ENT.

    It will be the first paperless hospital with online imaging, investigation processing and prescribing, Dr. Moopen says.

    With tele-radiology-enabled scanning and image transfer systems, doctors will be able to read scans and X-rays even when they are out of the hospital.

    The telemedicine-enabled surgery rooms and conference hall will allow Medcare staff to do real time interaction with professionals around the world through video conferencing.

    The hospital will have wireless Internet facility in all patients' room.

    "We are proud to be part of visionary initiatives like the Dubai Health Care City, which shall cater not only to the needs of the UAE but will act as the tertiary referral destination for the one billion plus population in West Asia and African countries.

    We hope this hospital shall be able to play a significant part in the healthcare scenario of GCC countries," Dr. Moopen says.

    Medcare Hospital is manned by medical and management experts from different continents. Headed by the Executive Medical Director Sadik Kodakat, the management team consists of Chief Executive Officer John Pickering (U.K.), Chief Operating Officer Ala Atari (Jordan) and Chief Nursing Officer Marianne Gerstner (South Africa).
