Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has greeted people of the State on the occasion of New Year. In a press release issued here on Saturday, he said, "Hope, 2007 brings in new happiness, prosperity and peace for the people." Mr. Kumaraswamy also wished the people on the occasion of Bakrid, which is on January 1. Leaders from various political parties have also extended their greetings. Congress leaders N. Dharam Singh and Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister for Transport N. Cheluvaraya Swamy, former Minister R.V. Deshpande, and president of the State unit of the Janata Dal (United) B. Somashekar, have said, "Let the New Year and Bakrid bring peace, prosperity and communal amity."
