IGNOU revives funding scheme

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has re-initiated its Research Project Funding Scheme in distance education. The quantum of assistance for a major research project of three-year duration will be Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs and for a minor research project of up to two years it will be Rs. 2 lakhs.

Proposals will have to be sent to IGNOU by January 31. The disciplines included in this scheme are sciences, agricultural sciences, health sciences, social sciences, engineering, humanities, commerce, law, management, education, media, communication and satellite technology.

Braille's birth anniversary function

NEW DELHI: The All-India Confederation of the Blind will organise a function here this coming Thursday to mark the 198th birth anniversary of Louis Braille. An exhibition will be mounted showcasing modern aids and appliances for the visually impaired.

Also, Braille versions of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, the Right to Information Act, the National Policy on the Disabled, the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Saral Sangeet Shiksha will be released in English and Hindi.

Entrepreneurship event at IIM Lucknow

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, has announced the launch of its annual entrepreneurship event, "Nirvaan". Teams will be presenting their business plans at IIM Lucknow's management festival on January 20 and a winner will be selected from among them.

"Nirvaan" is an initiative aimed at fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among the younger generation.
