New Year Eve traffic restrictions

NEW DELHI: No vehicular traffic will be allowed in the inner, middle and outer circles of Connaught Place from 7-30 p.m. onward this Sunday till the conclusion of the New Year celebrations.

At a press conference here on Friday, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Qamar Ahmed advised people to avoid Connaught Place on New Year's Eve and take alternative routes.

Mr. Ahmed said no vehicle would be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond (i) Mandi House roundabout; (ii) Bengali Market roundabout; (iii) North foot of Ranjit Singh flyover; (iv) Minto Road-Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Marg crossing; (v) Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi railway station); (vi) roundabout Ashram Marg crossing; (vii) Gole Market roundabout; (viii) Gole Dak Khana roundabout; (ix) Patel Chowk; (x) Kasturba Gandhi Road-Feroze Shah Road crossing; (xi) Ashok Road roundabout near 16 Ashok Road; and (xii) Windsor Place.

Tolstoy Marg will be one-way from Sansad Marg towards Barakhamba Marg. Also, traffic emerging from Barakhamba Road, Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Janpath will not be allowed to take a right turn towards Connaught Place.

Mortorists from the Connaught Place area can use the following roads to go out to reach their destination: Sansad Marg, Janpath, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Barakhamba Road, Minto Road, Chelmsford Road, Bhagat Singh Marg and Baba Kharak Singh Marg. Motorists who have to visit various hotels located within the restricted area have been issued separate parking labels along with the invitation cards or tickets. However, residents of the area and passengers bound for New Delhi railway station would be permitted to enter the area after due verification. Limited parking spaces would be made available near Connaught Place on first come first serve basis.
