Film artistes rally for sober celebration

BHUBANESWAR: A group of Orissa cine personalities and social activists on Saturday joined a rally appealing people to shun alcohol during the new year celebration. Youths, college students and film personalities were given a pledge not to touch alcohol at a meeting organised here at Master Canteen Square. The event was organised by city-based voluntary organisation, Prerana.

"There is every chance of liquor consumption shooting up during the new-year celebration. Our aim is to minimise the alcohol consumption on this day. The cine stars were invited to spread our message among public," Chairman of Prerana Dillip Srichandan said. Among others Oriya film actor Muna Khan, Jyoti Mishra and Kajal Mishra and Congress leader Suresh Routray took part in the rally.
