Elected

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy was elected president of the Indian Commerce Association at the three-day annual conference of ICA which concluded at the Andhra University on Saturday.

Others elected were: Executive president-H. Venkateswarlu (Osmania), secretary-Ravindra Nayak (Rohtak), managing editor-Narasimhan (Delhi), joint secretary-Subhash Garg (Jaipur) and member: M.B. Shukla (immediate past president).

Over 1,200 delegates attended the conference.

AU diary released

The Director's Chamber and Reprographic Centre was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor L. Venugopal Reddy at the AU Press and Publications wing on Saturday.

Prof. Reddy also released the university calendar and diary on the occasion.

He unveiled a portrait of Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press, on the AU press premises, and felicitated former professor Nemani Krishnamurthy, who painted the portrait. Principals of AU colleges and others were present.

Midnite Wizards

Dolphin Hotels will celebrate New Year's eve with a new concept `Midnite Wizards', with unlimited fun and frolic and food. Event manager, Dream Merchant Blue from Kolkata, and Track singer Charanjit Singh will enthrall the audience, according to the hotel's general manager V. Rajendra Prasad.

Record loading

A record quantity of 12,043 metric tonnes of calcined petroleum coke in bulk was loaded onto m.v. Sea Amity at east quay berth no.5 on Friday. This surpassed the previous record quantity of 11,064 tonnes loaded onto m.v. Server on October 23 this year.

The cargo relates to city company Rain Calcining Limited.

Prathyusha Associates were the stevedores and Eshwar shipping services, the steamer agents for m.v. Sea Amity.
