`Sensitise lower rung officials'

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Chief Secretary P.B. Mahishi has decided to sensitise and energise officials who work at the "grassroots" so that the grievances of people are redressed effectively.

Ordinary people are inevitably forced to run from pillar to post and find that they have to knock at the doors of the highest authorities all because their grievances are not redressed at the lower level. Hence, the officials such as tahsildars and police sub-inspectors should play a more active role in governance, Mr. Mahishi told reporters soon after taking charge here on Sunday.
