India can clinch the decider: Chappell

Cape Town: Coach Greg Chappell believes India can clinch the decider if it can "reproduce the commitment and thinking of Johannesburg."

He told The Hindu here on Sunday, "We didn't bat well enough at Kingsmead. It is very disappointing."

The coach, however, saw a silver lining — "They (the South Africans) have not batted too well either. This always gives us a chance." Chappell emphasised on the role of the openers. "We need starts. And we haven't got them so far."

He indicated strongly that Munaf Patel would figure in the final Test. "Actually he was fit to play in Durban and we were only worried that he had not bowled enough recently. He now has had another seven days of practice."

Chappell was all praise for S. Sreesanth's swing and control and had a word of appreciation for V.R.V. Singh as well. "There were some spells from him here which suggested he could be a fine Test match bowler in the days to come." He also said off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was an option for the third Test. — Special Correspondent
